As of today, there are six areas of study:

1. LegoMindstorms is for students of the 7th and 8th forms. The course is built around two types of robotics kits, LegoMindstorms NXT 2.0. and EV3. The students learn the basis of robotics design, learn to program their robots, execute their own projects. 

 

2. Arduino is for students of the 8th and 9th forms. Arduino is electronic hardware and a convenient platform for quick development of electronic devices. The course contains about 18 mini projects, such as switching on the light, playing sound, displaying text and installing motors and pickups to the circuit so that it reacts to light, heat and inclination. After the basic course the students do their own projects.

 

3. In a way, the Internet of Things course flows organically from the Arduino course. The students learn what thing and service are, learn how to create a consistent system that includes online services, cloud storage services, pickups and devices and the event tracking and reacting system. Those who master ThingWorx, the Internet of things platform, get the opportunity to create their own app, e.g. smart home or smart greenhouse that will maintain certain temperature, water plants and more.

 

4 The Manipulators course is for the students of the 10th and 11th forms because it requires significant knowledge in math and physics. The students will design and bring to life their own manipulators. At first there are necessary calculations to do, then a 3D model is created. The details for the future manipulator are cut with a laser beam machine. Then comes a very important stage – managing control of the manipulator and writing programs for autonomous work.

 

 5. The FIRSTTechChallenge (FTC) course is for the students that have completed the basic robotics course and have a developed engineering mindset. FTC competitions are a team robotics category. Its main goal is to design and build a robot that can perform tasks in limited time on the competition field. The tasks and the field are different every year and are announced in September. So the whole year is dedicated to preparation. Our students have taken part in several tournaments both in Russia and abroad and have achieved great results.

 

6. Our creative lab has all necessary equipment that is used for designing different devices and mechanisms and making prototypes of them. The students do 3D modeling, master drilling, laser beam, lathe and milling machines, learn to make details with a 3D printer. We encourage the students that come to us with their own ideas for projects and support those who haven’t decided what direction to take yet.
